The Richmond was a great place to stay. Will return again. Breakfast by the pool daily, lounging in the comfy pool chairs soaking up the sun and just a quick skip to the beach. One negative was pool towels weren't always stocked and often had to ask for more to be brought out. Staff had warm and welcoming personalities. I thought everything was nice with this hotel, especially for the money. For those who complained about the decor, they just don't understand what decor was. My only complaint, but this is Southbeach in general, is the pricing of alcholic beverages. Two pina colada's for an outrageous amount??? Come on now, lower the price a little. The stay was a lot of fun, but the check-in wasn't until 4PM! We drove 14hrs. and got there at 10AM only to realize we couldn't check-in until 4. Also we got 2 rooms for 2 adults per room and the beds were just 2 single beds pushed together into one. I also think parking should be included in the price of the hotel as it was $35 per day.

Spent only one night. Room clean. Simple, but didn't need the amenities. Great location near convention center and beach. Room was small-ish, walls thin (neighbors came in early in A.M. and had no trouble hearing them talk at a normal volume), water pressure moderate. If you're looking for an inexpensive (relative to other hotels in area) hotel that's […] clean and has pleasant, helpful employees, this will work. stopped in at the Richmond for one night before we went into key west. first off the parking is horrible. they want 35 dollars to vallet. and we found a spot one block away for 25. the room we got never really cooled down i dont know if the ac was broke or what. and the carpet in our room felt like it was cleaned with baking soda. it felt gross to walk […] on there were some stains on the floor so maybe someone got sick? it was just unpleasant. The service was great besides the room issues, it is a very nice hotel and the beach access is perfect. and your across the street from a very cool cafe thats open 24hours. overall we enjoyed our stay wasnt going to let a few things ruin our stay. but i wouldnt go back to this hotel. hope this helps.. fantastic hotel near the convention centre. I have stayed in many hotels on Collins and this is by far the very best... friendly, clean, quiet, great staff, fantastic manager. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who wants to visit this busy area, have value for money and a lovely personal service.

This hotel is just very basic when it comes to service. It is a charming old art deco style building--which I loved, and the pool area is very nice with a hot tub and a private entrance to the beach. The pool was heated at the perfect temperature for swimming.The common areas look nice, especially the back pool area and lounge with nice historic old […] ads, but when you take a closer look, it really is in need of some TLC in some areas. The cafe is adequate and convenient, though it would be nice to have poolside service instead of just walk up service. Our first room smelled like mildew, and when we went downstairs to ask for our room to be switched, the guy at the front desk asked us "how long have you been in the room" instead of saying "oh we are terribly sorry you got a smelly room"!!! When we told him that we were only in the room for 5 minutes, he quickly switched us to a different room- that did not smell- and we stayed in that room the rest of our stay. The bathroom in the room was very clean and we had no problem getting extra towels when we asked, but the water pressure and temperature in the shower was awful, so it took a long time to take showers just because it was hard to get the water temp right. The room had a fridge which was convenient, and also a very stained looking chair that looked like it needed to be reupholstered. At the pool area they seemed understaffed especially in the evenings- and for some reason they kept running out of towels at the pool. The night staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The beach chairs and umbrellas cost extra, and the separate company that does the chairs in front of the hotel had old and sagging chairs and an inattentive waitress, so we just ended up walking a hotel or two over to rent chairs that were in better condition, since most of the hotels have chairs for rent out front. Well, I love retro and this place has it but mainly because nothing has been touched in this place for 70 years. I guess that is not entirely fair, but it could use an update. The lighting is bad, there are blow up killer whales in the lobby right next to the stuffed animal at the concierge. The place was reasonably clean. this place is bordering on being a dump. not quite, but pretty bloody close. in desperate need of a gut renovation. unless you are a fan of Jersey Shore, stay away

Check in a Valet was very easy. Negative about the room or stay: Room and the bathroom were small. The bathroom was small enough that the toilet paper roll holder hit the back of my arm. TV was small...maybe a 19" TV, old style. The view of the pool was blocked by tree limbs...and this was on the 4th floor. I had some nacos and chips at the pool side […] restaurant...they were horrible. Positive about the room: Bathroom fixtures worked well and was clean. House keeping was excellent. Valet was excellent. Pool and access to the beach was excellent. Lincoln Road Mall is with in walking distance. The bed was a queen and a little on the stiff side. With the room size it's hard to fit a king size in there. I had breakfast at the pool side restaurant and it was good. No complaints. Front desk staff was very friendly and check out was a breeze. This hotel was excellent. Clean. Nice staff. Great location to the beach and nightlife. The room was quiet and well maintained. The best part was the saltwater pool and being able to walk out the back gate onto the beach. The only negative was the exorbitant parking rate.

despite yet again asking through hotels.com for no down bedding they failed to adhere to this common request. another wasted day at a+e through their incompetence

I chose this hotel because of the great location, it's relatively cheaper than most others in the area, but as they say, you get what you pay for. The walls are thin, really really thin. I was awakened at 5am by an alarm in the adjacent room, could hear basically every word the person was saying, and when they flushed the toilet it was like a jet engine […] during take off. I could hear other toilets throughout the hotel flushing as well. The room was tiny, but when you're in Miami you probably don't need to spend much time in your room...unfortunately when you want to sleep, the beyond uncomfortable sheets and all the noise will keep you from doing that. The Richmond is a great location near the convention center and Lincoln Road. Walking distance to both. Lincoln Road is a pedestrian mall area with many restaurants and bars. Also many interesting stores. The outdoor seating at most restaurants are under umbrellas and they provide great people watching day and night. The hotel is old Florida but kept […] clean. The pool and over-sized jacuzzi are very tropical, surrounded by lush palm trees. It was a very peaceful place to start and end your day. The staff at the front desk and the restaurant were all very nice and helpful with local knowledge. The hotel is between some very well known "hip" hotels that are priced much higher. If you take a walk along the beach walkway, you can pop in to some of the other hotels for a drink and to check out the scene around their pools. Can't beat the location - right on the beach, easy walk to South Beach, Espanolia Way, and Lincoln Road. Glad we didn't have a car, though, the valet parking charge was ridiculous.

The staff were very helpful. They let me check in early as soon as the room was ready. They helped me with excellent restaurant recommendations. I was very happy with my stay there.

The location of this hotel is very good and the pool area is nice, but the room itself was a bit shabby. There was ZERO water pressure-- very sad shower. Also, there were gross hairs in my linens. When I called the front desk to try to switch rooms I was told that they were full and I couldn't switch. We booked this hotel withnot knowing anything about the area. This hotel is in one of the coolest neighborhoods with so much to do. Not that you would need to leave this place (it has a pool, restauant and bar) but a short walk out past the pool leads you right to the Miami Beach boardwalk and beach area. The beach is nice and relaxing very very clean. […] Out in the front of the hotel you are with in a few steps of more restaurants, bars and shopping. I love the feel of the retro hotel area, not worth paying all the money to stay in a chain hotel, this older hotel blows it out of the water. The only bad thing was the screaming baby next door in the morning, but that has nothing to do with the hotel. the first floor of the hotel, where the lobby, cafe and the gym (not really a gym at all, but that's another matter) is decent, but once you go upstairs, the place is dark and sinister. the carpets and walls have not been cleaned in a few decades, the lighting is terrible... my room was very small with a door to the room next door (!), i could hear […] everything... for $30 to $50 more you can get a really nice place on ocean drive, i would not recommend this place. Three times the front desk gave wrong information. Had to call twice the front desk to send help to fix the TV. 1st time it didn't come on. 2nd time no picture. Had trouble getting cold water to mix with the hot water while taking a shower. Light went out in the bathroom in the middle of the shower. Cafeteria supposely was open until 7:00 pm. When to […] get some food at 06:30 and was told that the kitchen was close but could get a drink. Asked for a wake-up call and didn't get one, so did another customer in the lobby at chek-out time. The Richmond Hotel in Miami Beach provided no Internet, although it was announced. The staff at the front desk recommeded us to go to Starbucks! I don't call this service.

A quaint and quiet hotel best suited to the mature guest.

You can't beat the location and access lincoln rd, the beach, restaurants etc. The room was pretty sparse and small. bathroom was not luxurious. It was clean though. Pool was by no means a posh, Miami party scene. If you're on a budget and want to be near the action this is good for you. Otherwise steer clear.

I'm not a hotel snob. All I hope for in a hotel is for a clean room with a comfortable stay & decent service. This hotel was HORRIBLE. 1) I stayed in an Ocean Front room. You CANNOT control your own air conditioner. I have never heard of such a thing. I arrived at my room at 8:30 at night & my room was 79 degrees and muggy. I called the front desk. […] They said I had to wait until maintenance arrived the next morning. I hardly was able to sleep. The A/C got adjusted to my desired temperature the next day. Two days later I come back at 7:30 after dinner and my room is 80 degrees. I called down to the front desk again, and was told the same thing. I had to wait until the following day. Two of my 4 nights were ruined. They gave me NO discount for this, despite the fact I paid extra for the ocean front room & specifically asked not to have the A/C turned off while I was there. 2) The toilets sound like the Titanic sinking everytime you flush it. It woke my either me or my wife up each time one of us used the restroom. 3) The hotel must be a cash cow for the owners. Everything from the sink, to toilet, to windows have to be at least 30 years old. 4) They dont even have basic cable! I was there during the NCAA football championship. I couldn't find esp so called the front desk to ask what channel it was on. They simply said "oh, we dont have ESPN. you have to come down to the lobby to watch it." The front desk staff are generally pleasant, but heaven help you if you have to deal with Indra.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at The Richmond. It is in the perfect location on Collins (near most of the clubs, bars, shops). It is also right on the beach. The hotel is an older building; charming. My only wish is that the sound proofing was a little better. I had to buy ear plugs in order to sleep at night. You could literally hear every spoken word […] outside, and in the adjacent rooms. Not a huge deal if you are out and about all of the time, and you like to disco nap in the afternoons. However, if you are someone that likes to go to bed at a reasonable hour (11ish) and wake up a little later (9ish), you may have a hard time sleeping. But, who goes to Miami Beach to sleep? The only other thing to know is that there really isn't much of a bar or hotel lobby scene here. For me, this was good. I'd prefer to go and make noise in someone else's lobby. But, just a heads up that if you are not someone that likes to venture out of the hotel lobby for your fun, you may be disappointed here. Very small room , no coffee pot, refrig or microwave in room. No coffee in lobby, can buy coffee after 7:30 am on weekends. Room price I paid was way too high for comparable hotels in the area

Pros: Great location, clean, pool, beach access Cons: Old and looking it, no beach chair service (all other hotels have), small rooms (even smaller bathrooms)

This hotel has all for a good stay in South Beach Real Deco atmosphere , good service and personal attention in a perfect locación

Great location but the hotel is in desperate need of reno. Outdoors pool area very nice and comfortable but the room was a different story. Carpet was very dirty, I was afraid to walk bare foot. Has direct acces to the beach, Close to convention center and Lincoln street. Rooms and bathrooms small. Hotel needs upgrade. No coffee maker or microwave in room. Staff friendly and helpful.

My stay was great! Clean and friendly staff. My only complaint was I ruin my new bathing suit in the Hot tub. The hot tub was filled with bleach. I think it should have been a sign or something saying that the hot tub had bleach in it.

A very good art deco style hotel, very well located in South Beach. A nice pool, direct access to the beach and a friendly and helpful staff complete the experience.

Perfect location for the beach and Lincoln Road less than 10 minutes walk. Very good Tourist Information Office located 5 mins on way tp Lincoln Road for all trips etc. Didn't eat in Hotel but did do at Marseille Hotel next door (out-front) people watching. Great food and excellent value for money cocktails!!

I did not like the adjacent rooms separated by two doors. You just hear Everything!!!!! moaning, laughing,etc. Otherwise,regular room is fine.

If you are looking for an affordable hotel on the best strip in Miami this is it. The price was decent, the pool area was good, direct access to beach but the rooms needed updating and better bedding. Then again who stays or sleeps in their hotel rooms in Miami Beach!
