On the southern edge of Plaka, the pedestrianised archaeological promenade skirts the foot of the Acropolis, cutting between the pine-covered slopes of Filopappos Hill and Herodes Theatre (built 2 AD), hosting open-air performances through summer. Close by is the New Acropolis Museum, designed by Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi.
Zobacz wszystkie hotele - Ateny"Perfect location, a bit vintage hairdryer"
The location is perfect: very close to Acropolis and a very nice neighbourhood. Quiet, unless you discount the night concerts of huge stray dogs, but this looks unavoidable in Athens. Also, very clean and has very polite staff. On the downside, the hairdryer was very vintage and it generally looks like it's days as a rather expensive hotel are in the […] past. Nothing was worn off though. So, if you are staying at half of its normal rate as we did, it is completely fine. However, if you are paying a full rate, you would expect more. Przeczytaj więcej
"Good hotel, clean and quiet location"
The hotel was good clean room but little small, bathroom small but clean. Quiet neighbourhood location. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very good
"well located, cheap and simple hotel"
The hotel is excellently located, the hotel staff and nice and helpful, the room is alright, the bath small and bit old. The breakfast is ok, the orange juice is totally not orange juice but apart from that u can have a nice breakfast to start the day. Overall a nice stay!
This hotel is in a nice location with places to eat near the hotel. The reception staff were brilliant they were helpful, knowledgeable and always willing to help. The breakfast could have been better, not a great choice and virtually nothing hot. The room was slightly small with a view of other buildings, back yards and the top of the Acropolis. The […] bathroom could of done with an update. I can’t say that the hotel offers good value for money because there were a lot of cheaper hotels available but beware there is a lot of dives in Athens as well. The best thing about this hotel is its location right next to the Acropolis which is a ‘must do’ when in Athens. Warning if you stroll out looking for just a bar to have a drink the choice is tiny. We went to the Berlin Bar and before we knew it we had young lady’s asking us to buy them champagne at £35 a glass. We didn’t stay!!! It’s easy to get to from the airport just 1 change and once you know your way about it’s only a 5 min walk from the Acropolis metro station. If I go back to Athens I would be tempted to stay in the square (I can’t remember the name, it starts with ‘M’) more bars and nice places to eat. Przeczytaj więcej
"Close to Acropolis, simple, clean and good price"
Staff was great, nice breakfast included in price. Internet available for a reasonable price. Wonderful location.
We were very happy with the Philippos Hotel. We had a wonderful breakfast each morning with very polite staff there. The room was small but adequate and clean. The beds were firm and great for my back (not too soft like most american hotels). The location was so close to everything we walked to and we could see the Acropolis from our balcony on the […] front side of the hotel. Wish they had free internet - had to pay to use. "Philippos, Athens - great location, good service"
I enjoyed my stay at the Philippos Hotel in Athens, Greece very much. The location right below the Acropolis and literally around the corner from the New Acropolis Museum couldn't be better for a visitor on a pleasure trip to the city. The hotel staff was knowledgeable and attentive. A very decent continental breakfast is included in the price of the […] room. As a guest at the Philippos, you also get advantages with its more upscale partner hotel around the corner, the Herodion, namely a discount on the very reasonably priced meals in its pleasant atrium garden restaurant and access to the Herodion's rooftop garden for a fabulous view of the Acropolis and the city of Athens. While I was in Athens, work stoppages due to measures being taken in Greece's debt crisis made travel around Athens difficult and forced me to cancel a trip to one of the islands, resulting in me having to stay two more nights at the Philippos than I had planned. The staff was very accommodating and helpful with providing me a room for those nights and with my questions arising from the lack of public transportation, closure of museums, monuments, etc. during the strike. In fact, I can say that it was thanks to the staff at the Philippos Hotel that I was able to enjoy my visit to Athens in spite of the circumstances in Greece at the time of my visit. I would highly recommend the Philippos Hotel given its wonderful location, helpful staff and competitive price considering the location and amenities offered. Przeczytaj więcej
"Enjoyable stay"
My wife and I stayed there for 6 nights. The location was pretty good. The hotel was very clean. The breakfast was pretty good. The only two things that would have made it better were if the internet were free and we could have had a double bed instead of twin beds. If youare looking for a good room at a good price, this is a good choice.
"Great location for all the tourist locations"
Right in the middle of all the major tourist attractions, acropolis, museums etc., and pretty close to Adrianou Street (which seems to be the main shopping/restaurant street and is largely pedestrianised), and also quite handy for the Metro (which we used to get to the airport after our stay). Staff were happy to sort out the bus trip to Delphi we wanted […] to do. Breakfast buffet was slightly limited in selection but quality was good. Przeczytaj więcej
"phillipos athens"
Quiet area with pedestrian walk to the plaka & acropolis museum.
"View of Acropolis from your balcony!"
You cannot beat this location. 5min walk to all the best touristy restaurants, main pedestrian street, Acropoli, museums-everything! The only time we took a tram was to go to the beach, and it was still quite close- 30 min total. After going to Omonia neighborhood to see the National Museum, we were so happy to come back to our hotel! never ever stay […] in those parts of town-yikes! Here, we walked at night, 2 ladies, freely and safely. Best location, best neighborhood, good hotel. Przeczytaj więcej

"The Philippos Hotel in Athens -- fantastic"
The hotel was in a fantastic location, right next to the Acropolis but in a quiet neighbourhood. When we arrived, we were given a smaller room that the one we paid for but told that the next day we would be upgraded. Everything worked out perfectly -- our luggage was brought there while we were out -- and swiftly like the staff said. The breakfast […] was simple but fresh and always on time. The staff was exceptional, especially the concierge who gave us a ride to the airport during oru stay (there was a taxi strike). They were glad to help with any questions we had. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will be going back there during my next time in Athens. Przeczytaj więcej
"Hotel Philippos in Athens"
The Hotel is located very close to the Acropolis, which is a major sight-seeing place in Athens. It is only a short walk away and in a friendly neighbourhood with restaurants and cafes. There is a Metro station a few minutes walk away. It is clean and the staff is nice and friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
"Philippos Hotel - Nearby Acropolis Museum, Athens"
Perfect location, very friendly reception - 2 men, hotel clean. Very small room, very bad bed, average breakfast, bad AC, you can hear people from the next room taking... Good for one or two nights not more and that's for the location.
"Great location"
Short walking distance to Metro station, Acropolis and new Museum. Near other great sites. Right off main avenue (Syngrou). Parking is a problem, but there is a garage less than 2 blocks (ask hotel for address) for 16.50 Euro per day.
"Amazing Location"
The Philippos was very well situated near the Acropolis Metro stop and easy walking distance to many of the great sights, the New Acropolis Museum, the Acropolis, the Plaka, lots of restaurants etc. It seemed a very safe area which for Athens these days is quite important. The room was small but comfortable. Fine for one person, perhaps a bit of a squeeze […] for 2 but certainly ok if you plan to spend most of your day out sightseeing anyway. Przeczytaj więcej
"Hotel close to Acropolis & Plaka"
Hotel was close to Plaka neighbourhood and walking distance to the Acropolis, and also 5 minutes from the metro station which gets you to the airport, so very convenient. We went there during the Easter weekend and was told by the receptionist that everything was closed, including the Acropolis on Easter Sunday. Based on this, we ventured to the Acropolis […] public grounds later than planned and upon arrival at the gates, was told that it was opened from 9am to 12pm and we had just missed it by 10 minutes! Very upset with the wrong information given by the receptionist and not a happy camper! Przeczytaj więcej
"Unpleasant stay"
Room was very small. They charged for Internet use even at lobby. Also charged extra for using the safe box inside the room. Window to street didn't close completely so the room was very noisy I would not stay in that hotel again for sure
"Perfectly Located"
We couldn't have stayed in a better location. Only a block and a half from the new Acropolis Museum and a few more blocks to the Acropolis itself. Metro station, fabulous restaurants, and great shopping were all very close by. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was simple but very good - rolls, olives, fruit, yogurt, cheese, […] juice, coffee... The room was very small, which took some getting used to, but kept clean and comfortable and we were there for the sights, not the room. Rate was very affordable - we stayed in the off season, so I don't know how to compare it to rates during high season. Bring wrinkle-free clothes if you can, as there are no irons allowed in the rooms. There is a 24-hour laundromat a couple of blocks away which is a much better deal than paying the hotel rates for laundry. Also, wifi is available, but not free. There are several cafes that offer free wifi that are very close, though the hotel rate was affordable and most of the time I just used it there. No restaurant in the hotel, though they offer a 10% discount at their sister hotel restaurant around the corner, where the service was fantastic and the food very good. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it highly. Przeczytaj więcej
Pros: Clean, friendly staff, close proximity to sight seeing, breakfast good variety. Cons: internet extra charge (pricey) should be included in hotel price, bathroom small but clean. Don't request reception to call taxi for you this will cost you $2 euros (hotel charge) which you pay to the taxi driver. instead step outside and wave one down.
Pros: location walking distance to acropolis, shopping. staff friendly and helpful. hotel clean. Cons: bathroom small. no double beds...two twins put together. noise level not bad. Internet access is additional cost which adds up quickly. Just beware when asking the frontdesk to call taxi there is extra cost associated for the call which you pay to the […] taxi driver. "hotel from an American perspective"
the hotel was very clean. the staff was helpful in every way possible. as to be expected, the room was small, but the bed was comfortable. bathroom was tiny and awkward to use. especially the shower. the breakfast was European style (hard boiled eggs, rolls, sandwish meats, cheese, some cereals, and cakes). there was a bar, but you basically need to […] mix the drink yourself. the room did not come with free wifi (which for the price i think it should), but free internet in the business center. negative was the a/c in the room. the hotel kept the rooms at 24 C. which may be to hot for some people. they did finally lower the temperature in the room after i came out in the middle of the night sweaty and irritated. the location is great. on the corner of the Acropolis museum, which has its own subway station (2-3min walk). close to to the Acropolis and the temple of zeus (10min walk). plaka district (5min walk). everything else is a few minutes away via subway. i was traveling just my wife and i never felt unsafe. the price for the room was okay considering similar priced hotels area. don't expect much luxury. this hotel is clean and comfortable. "rooms very alot"
We stayed here both upon arrival in Greece and also for the last few nights before departing for back home. The first room was marginal...very small and the double bed was bad enough that neithe of us slept well. The second stay was much better, probably because we requested a better room, letting the reception staff know that our previous room was […] not acceptable. They then provided us with an excellent room...very spacious with firm twin beds, loads of closet space, a seating area and a view of the Parthenon. The hotel location is great...close to Metro and sights but on a quiet street. The breakfast was of good but not stellar quality. Most of the staff was very helpful. Przeczytaj więcej
"Philippos Hotel - great location and helpful staff"
The Philippos Hotel is in a great location for tourists. It is located on a quiet residential street, but is only a 10 min walk to the New Acropolis Museum, a Metro stop, and numerous restaurants and shops. The staff was extremely helpful with everything from directions, to arranging for taxis, to storing luggage, to advice on where to eat. The complementary […] breakfast had a great deal of variety and included several items I wouldn't normally consider part of a continental breakfast. The room was small by American standards (think Microtel, but without as much storage space). There was no place to put the luggage and still walk around the bed. The room was poorly lit -- I could read in bed, but it was too dark to read at the tiny desk. The bathroom was well lit and had a full-size tub with a shower attachment. The cost of outgoing telephone calls, even within Athens, seemed high, although I have nothing to compare it to in Greece. Overall, I'd rate it as a good value for tourists on a budget, who can tolerate the cramped rooms. Przeczytaj więcej
"Don't rely on booking a double!"
The hotel was in a great location only minutes from the Acropolis and was clean. Although the staff were friendly, I booked a double and was given a twin which wasn't ideal for a romantic break. When I challenged this I was told that there aren't enough doubles for everyone - so why allow people to book them!!!! In addition, there is no laundry room […] or ironing facilities available except a pre-ordered hotel service which meant a celebratory night was not as presentable as I would have lilked. "Great Location"
We stayed at the Philippos the night before and two nights after a "Classic Greece" coach tour. The location was great... about two block from the New Acropolis Museum and the walk up to the Parthenon. It also had easy access to the Plaka & we felt comfortable walking to there at night. The hotel lobby was very nice. The room was pleasant, but as expected, […] fairly small. Nice modern bathroom and good air conditioning. We had them store some luggage when we went on our tour and again the day we left for the return flight home. A little disappointed that they charged 1 Euro/day for the room safe and 6 Euros/day for internet (Lobby). Thought those should have been included. Al-in-all, a good hotel. Przeczytaj więcej

This hotel was perfectly located. It is located literally 5 minutes from the metro and ten minutes from the heart of Athens. The breakfast was good, rooms were extremely clean. "Philippos Hotel-very convenient to Acropolis"
The location of this hotel was perfect for the sites we wanted to see while we were in Athens. The hotel is very simple. The rooms are small, but clean and adequate if you plan on being out and about in the city and only sleeping at the hotel. I feel it was a very fair price for a 3 star hotel in Athens.

We thought the Hotel was excellent value, especially as it is in a quiet, attractive neighbourhood and in close proximity to the new Acropolis Museum and other sites of historic interest. The rooms were small but well organised and very clean, with comfortable beds. Very good breakfast included in the price. We found good places to eat in the nearby […] streets but just outside the Plaka with its tourist hassle. We would definitely go back again and recommend it to friends. Przeczytaj więcej

"Great staff and great location"
The room was small but adequate for a tourist agenda. Staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. Hotel is close to almost all you would want to see of the historic district. Rooms were clean but television was as modest as they get.

"pleasant and helpful staff, and GREAT location"
This hotel was great, after having a bad experience in Rome, it was a pleasant change. The front desk staff was helpful and pleasant. The room was not huge, but an adequate and comfortable size. The location was great - about two blocks from Acropolis metro stop and just a few steps further to the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum. The breakfast […] was good, basic fare, and the internet service worked, and was not very expensive. Przeczytaj więcej

"great location"
When we arrived at the Philippos in the early morning, were were told that they had become overbooked because of some guests not leaving on schedule, so they were upgrading us to their sister hotel which was right around the corner. This hotel was really perfect in every way. There was a great view of the acropolis and the new acropolis museum from […] the comfortable rooftop lounge, and each of these were within about a 5 minute walk of the hotel. We only had one day to spend in Athens so the central location was ideal, and the high quality of the hotel and friendliness of the staff made for an experience that couldn't have been better. The hotel location is all about the Acropolis and the surrounding monuments in Athens. The hotel situated at the base of the Acropolis and one block away from the New Athens Museum makes it the perfect stay for the money.
"Superb location"
This hotel is located in a great area, very close to the beautiful new Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis itself. The Plaka section is also very close and great for souvenirs and restaurants. And the Metro is close by and very easy to use. The neighborhood itself was safe and very residential. The breakfast is fairly standard but its filling and gets […] one to a good start in the morning. Przeczytaj więcej
"Great hotel"
This hotel worked out great for me on my recent trip to Athens. It is only a few blocks from the Ackropoli Metro Station, and it is only two blocks from the new Acropolis Museum and three blocks from the Acropolis itself. It is in easy walking distance to a whole series of cafe's and restaurants (just keep walking around the Acropolis, past the entrance, […] and down the hill a bit). The staff was very nice and helpful, and the room was pleasant (although very small). The buffet breakfast was included in the room rate I paid, so I ate there for breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel - the location can't be beat. Przeczytaj więcej

"Not impressed"
Felt as if I had the room nobody else wanted! There were some strange steps in the corner up to window, the room was dark, the shower was minute with a strange step seat arrangement. All very cramped. But the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean and the location was excellent - just minutes away from the New Acropolis Museum.
"Very Convenient Location"
This hotel is a short walk from Acropoli Metro, the Acropolis and central attractions. Area of Athens felt much safer than elsewhere. Hotel was of good standard, clean, spacious rooms and efficient air-con. Breakfast was a little basic but adequate. Would recommend.
"Great location and value"
This hotel is an an excellent central location within 5 minutes walk of the Acropolis, Plaka, metro station, National Gardens and more. Clean and recently updated...only negative were awfully hard beds.
"Great value & location"
Great value & location at the Philippos Hotel. Some o the rooms are a little small, but for this price, with a good breakfast and friendly service, and just yards from the new Acropolis Museum, this is hard to beat in Athens.
