The Santa Barbara Inn was a great hotel to stay in to visit SB. I went with a group of girlfriends and we were close to everything and had a beautiful poolside room with a view of the ocean. The front desk staff was exceptional and was very helpful whenever we needed anything. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santa Barbara. […] The room rate is a bit pricey, but you are staying on the ocean and have a comfortable bed. Santa Barbara Inn is a beautiful mediterranean style hotel. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated - just like the photos. Our poolside room also had an ocean view, large balcony with rattan furniture. The beach is walking distance across the street from the hotel. Cabrillo Blvd has restaurants and you can rent bicycles and bike carts to ride […] on the beach. The hotel staff including housekeepers and desk staff all very friendly. The continental breakfast was fresh along with free coffee,tea, hot chocolate for the kids available all night long. Free newspaper and internet access. Hotel is great if you plan to stay around the beach area. We brought bikes and rode EVERYWHERE! Many fantastic bike rides around the area. Great view from our balcony. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms needed a big upgrade, that's my main complaint. My boyfriend is 6'3 and he had a hard time showering because the shower head was so low....we have good […] senses of humor, so it was kind-of comical! Plus, there was only a shower, no option for baths. Also, no air conditioning! Living in SoCal on the beach you usually don't need air with the ocean breeze, but it did get stuffy in our room and it was only April. My boyfriend and I found one night to get away from LA and decided to go to Santa Barbara. After looking at several different hotels in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Inn had great rates and prime location. It only took about 25 minutes for them to come unlock my car. The continental breakfast featured its basics such as, assorted pastries, coffee, tea, cereal, fruit, etc., and was in a room with big windows overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful. Excellent location, nice walks on the beach. Nice pool and hot tub. Reasonably good rooms, but we were overlooking the parking lot. Small deck, but at least they had one. Continental breakfast on the 3rd floor was very mediocre, but great view. Charging $7/day for parking is a little much. Overall pretty good.

Wonderful hotel! The staff was especially friendly and nice, the room was beautiful and hotel is located close to the beach. I liiked not being so close to State Street. It felt a little calmer and quieter.

If you prefer great service, a clean, beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean, a helpful, knowledgable and friendly staff, then stay at the Santa Barbara Inn while traveling. I enjoyed a great nights sleep on the softest pillows and warmest king size bed I have ever felt while staying at the Santa Barbara Inn. The pool and hot tub are kept very clean and inviting, the sound of the waves crashing on the beach all night can be heard if you sleep with your sliding glass door open and have a room facing the beach. the proximity to the beach was wonderful. the rooms cleaner than expected and service great. would stay again.

This hotel is in a nice a spot, but the quality of the accommodations didn't warrant the price. There was no hot water the evening we got there and it was not fixed before we went to bed. Still not fixed in the a.m. until we caused a stink. Finally got one shower with hot water, but no apology or compensation.

The bed and pillos needs to be replaced.. diffucult ot sleep. Great view from the 3rd Floor breakfast room.

Nice ocean view, very kind hotel owner. Some aspects of the room a bit worn, but overall very comfortable and pleasant. I'll stay there again.

Great place. A little out of town but next to beach and trolley stop outside the door takes you downtown. Friendly, very helpful staff, lovely big rooms with balcony , decent continental breakfast .Highly. recommended

We were checked in by a very friendly and extremely helpful front desk employee. Our standard king room was spacious, clean, and had nice decor. The bed was very comfortable, the sheets and blankets were very soft, and the towels were very fluffy and absorbent. I liked that there were full mirrored doors on the closet. Often times you don't get a full […] mirror in a hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to find street parking every time we came back to the hotel, though the hotel's lot was only a reasonable $7 a day. The location of the place is fantastic -- directly across from the beach, and a quick drive or long walk (but definitely walkable!) to State Street. Our balcony only overlooked a residential neighborhood, but we still enjoyed sitting at our little table sipping wine on it. I also appreciated that although it seems the balconies were not originally built to be private, the hotel added partitions between them. We didn't use the pool or try the continental breakfast (there are too many great places to eat in SB to bother with that!), but the coffee they offered in the lobby was decent. I would say the only complaint we had was that the walls were pretty thin -- but luckily with all the beer and wine we drank throughout the weekend, we slept just fine despite the noise! Went on a weekend trip with my girlfriend down to Santa Barbara. Our room was stuffed into the corner on the second floor facing the parking lot. There was a dog barking from a nearby house that kept me awake on the first night. The room claims to be non smoking, but our room must have been smoking at some point in the past. You can still smell smoke […] from the walls and rug. The towels/robes were rough as sand paper. There were stains in the rug. Overall the room felt like a cheap motel, but cost 3x as much. On the plus side, the king size bed was comfortable and large. The walk to State street or the pier is a little long, but generally is a nice walk. The hotel staff were nice and polite. This was the perfect location since I was unable to book at Fess Parker for the Conference. The bed was excellent and the TV. Lots of channels and a large widescreen. I didn't have the best view but, wasn't in the room that much as I had classes to attend during the day. No A/C but, found a pedistal fan in the closet which worked just fine as the temperatures […] were moderate. Also, didn't hear any neighbors which is always a plus. I would stay again. The Santa Barbara Inn is not air conditioned and in hot weather this is a problem. There are sliding glass doors and fans, but if you are facing the road there is noise during the night. The facility overall is in need of a thorough cleaning. Overpriced for what you receive.

Hotel staffs are pleasant and helpful. Large room with balcony, clean. Nice simple breakfast in the morning, good coffee. Across from beach, very quiet, 20 min walk to the wharf. For the price I paid, I can overlook all the minor imperfection here and there. Will definitely stay here again.

Our two nights provided a perfect weekend respite in Santa Barbara after a busy week in Los Angeles. It's smallness made us feel very cozy and relaxed. Close in to all of State Street shops and restaurants, made walking around a great pleasure.

Had a very good experience here. Hotel was in a great location near the ocean and staff very helpful. Coffee in the lobby when we arrived which was later in the afternoon. Beds were very comfortable and rooms a good size with huge tv. . the complimentary breakfast was fine. Would definately stay again. Just a bit of a walk to the Marina, pier.

Extensive research at late notice chose this based on previous reviews, poor view(unless you like car parks).valet parking for 7 bucks...i parked tge car, unloaded and carried everything...what was the 7 bucks for?..poor location..admittedly over the road from beach and nice beach walk...beds were terrible and basic, breakfast was simple, glad only […] stayed one night, doubletree close by must be better..sorry wouldn't stay here again. The Santa Barbara Inn is a delightful location for a fun weekend out of town. We enjoyed the overall ambience of the hotel. Its setting was wonderful. The continental breakfast was amazing, most of all the Peerless Coffee! The staff were very courteous and helpful. A great place to stay in Santa Barbara!

We loved it. Little further than i remember from state street but we walked it several times and took a bicycle cab the other times. Rooms and hotel are a little dated, but clean and comfortable.

Hotel is right across the street from the beach. City shuttle bus has a stop in front of the hotel that will take you down town. Room was large and comfortable.

This inn is outdated. The carpet is old, the walls and baseboards need to be painted, the wallpaper in the bathroom is peeling off. The lighting in the bathroom was so terrible it was hard to apply make-up. There was supposed to be a coffeepot in the room, but there wasn't. This is a wonderful location, right across the street from the beach, in a quiet neighborhood. Staff was very helpful and friendly any time we needed anything. Parking is free and convenient. Complimentary continental breakfast served in large room on third floor with beautiful view. Free wine/crackers/fruit/cheese the day we were there in the late […] afternoon. I loved this hotel with one significant exception -- the rooms are in very bad condition and need a major update. It looks and fees like nothing has been done to the rooms since 1980. The hotel is very nice, but we were disappointed our first night as I paid extra for a king oceanview room and did not receive that. In addition, the door lock did not work very well and it was difficult to open the door to our room. Having worked in a hotel before I understand that sometimes its just not possible to put everyone in the exact room type […] they request, but I was unhappy that I was unable to get a break on the room rate as it was prepaid. Easy to find on the beach front valet parking, great reception by the staff. Unfortunately this hotel is living on it's past fortunes, it is far too expensive for what it is and needs updating,the Holiday Inn in San Francisco and the Hyatt Regency in LA were cheaper but the rooms are lovely and big. Hotel itself was nice and good location, however, our room had definite stale smell to it and the showers looked liek last remodeled in the 80's, with barely water coming out. Don't mean to complain too much as again, hotel, location and price were good, but these details need to be looked into.

My husband and I stayed one night and enjoyed our stay. We loved the bed, pillows and down comforter - so comfortable. The coffee was really good (we didn't eat the breakfast). We parked on the street and walked everywhere - on the wharf and to dinner. We would stay there again.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help guests. The Friday night wine and cheese reception, free bottled wine in room were very nice and unexpected.The lowest valet parking I have ever experienced. The decor of the lobby and corridors was very nice as well as our room decor.
