"Very Convenient and Beautiful"
If you are visiting Duke or love Golf this is a beautiful hotel to stay at. People are very friendly and accommodations are great. I strongly recommend it!

The room I had overlooked a very ugly rooftop covered in gravel and was sold as a range view room. The Washington-Duke has beautiful views overlooking the golf course and even the front rooms are better than this one. The hotel itself was great, but I was very unhappy with the room.

"Washington Duke hotel & golf club-very close to Du"
I was so suprised at how upscale the hotel was..Its very beautiful ..the beds were extremely comfortable and it was a great place to stay as I was a first time patient at Duke hospital.. "Pros-Cons"
Facility in still in good condition, although the railing into the pool had yellow tape on it due to a crack in the cement. I left my cell phone charger in the room at checkout. Ten minutes later, I was not permitted to re-enter room. Secuiity searched for the charger and reported that the item could not be located. A email inquiry two days later resulted […] in news that charger was located. Returned to hotel to reclaim item. Very nice hotel. Pro Shop very helpful and friendly. Wait staff in restaurant not very helpful, and bordered on shady.

"May not get room category you book"
Was given a lower category suite than what I booked through hotels.com. Was told that I would be on list for correct room next day but correct room never became available. After far too much time and effort, front desk gave me access to room next door so that we would at least have a bathtub need to bathe our small kids. (Yes, some suites only have […] showers.) We have stayed at the Washington Duke on several occasions over the past 14 years. Unfortunately it has been due to doctor/hospital/clinic appointments. Even so we have enjoyed our stay. We can't always afford this particular hotel but when we can, we love it! The only reason I marked 4 on quality of service is we asked for late check out just "in case" […] we needed it. You never know how long a doctor or other appointment will take. We did not ask for a medical discount on the room rate but were told there could be no late check out regardless. I think that should be a consideration for those guests staying at the Washington Duke due to medical appointments. "Duke basketball and WaDu - such a treat!"
A perfect way to spend a weekend visiting your Duke student - this majestic hotel is right across the street from the campus - and the old world atmosphere, with upscale treats such as waffle bathrobes, make this inn a wonderful respite. I can especially recommend the blackened shrimp salad sandwich!

"Nice Rooms"
We went to a Duke basketball game and this place was very convenient, nice and clean. All of the Duke players and their opponents stay at this hotel the night of or night before the games. Nice lounge. We were upgraded to what they called a junior suite which was great for my son and I. I would definitely stay there again.
