"Don't pay extra for pool view king"
Lot of noise from pool activity and no privacy on 4th floor rooms because they surround pool and are on the same level as the pool. Wi-fi did not work in room unless you stood by the door to the room. The shower valve did not work so only a bath was possible. Everything else was fine.

Hotel wasgood but it didnt have an entrance direct onto the riverwalk as the name would suggest, It was however right on the riverwalk which is an awesome place to visit and the staff were all very friendly.

Clean rooms, decent location. Advertised wifi service was not very good.

Was not happy with this hotel at all. Really wish I would have picked a different. Hotel was far from the main area of the Riverwalk. Hotel staff was nice, but just not happy with the hotel location or room.
It was ok. No breakfast bar and no internet service. They should place a microwave in the rooms.

Great location-Hotel was a walk across the street to the Riverwalk and just a few blocks to the Alamo. The room was a little small but was maintained well. ( We had a KIng size bed) I would stay here again

When we arrived to check in they gave us specific instructions on how to park and whatnot...I did not realize it was so narrow. I am glad I had a small car because it seemed like people with larger vehicles were having issues getting up there and they dont seem to have ample parking so we decided to leave our car there and go walking to see the sights. […] Overall I enjoyed the convenience of the hotel and the complimentary water and pretzels. The pillows were very soft and I slept like a baby. Room had old tv 10channels 7 of which were hispanic hallways not vacuum. Would not stay again

It was at the end of the riverwalk and we had to walk awys to get to the resturants and such, but the main problem was that I couldn't get ahold of the front desk several times, it rang 15 or 20 times before someone picked up. the hotel itself was nice, the service at the front desk was not as good as i thought. stood there for about 15 to 20 minutes waiting to get my room. also there is no hot tub and no indoor pool. only 1 out door pool and its only heated in the winter. the reason i picked this hotel was for the hot tub, which was not there. the food from room service, […] or the restaurant down stairs, was horrible. they got my order wrong and the food made my girlfriend throw up the rest of the night. the bar was nice tho. "Convenient to River Walk and great price"
Easy access to Riverwalk but didnt like having to pay to park as a guest at this hotel. Otherwise a great find.
"Plaza Hotel in San Antonio"
I lived in San Antonio for years. This was my first stay at this hotel. Overall the Plaza is in a good location, safe parking and decent staff. The rooms however are so small. I am not normally claustrophobic, but the walls were closing in. I will never stay here again.
We are pleased that you liked the location, safe parking and staff. We are a heritage building and do have a few smaller rooms. If you had asked the front desk staff we are sure they would have tried accommodate you. We are sorry that you won’t be returning as we really do try to ensure our guests have a good experience.

We are sorry to read your comments about our staff. As you can see in other reviews on this page, guests praise our staff as “outgoing and friendly” and “first rate.” We do have a restaurant and a late-hour bar with food and drinks and even room-service. If by “off-schedule” food you mean 2 or 3 am, then it is true we do not have food service. However our bar is open late and breakfast starts very early depending on the day of the week. We are sorry you had difficulty obtaining a refund for early departure but our policy, for your special package, was printed on the confirmation you received. We hope you can understand that our staff must follow hotel policy.

As soon as we entered the room we were given it was obvious that the room had not been cleaned very well. The river view, did view the river, just not the river walk. If you don't plan on loking out the window it's OK. After talking to the General Manager about the condition of the room, we were moved to a different room, much, much better. Get a corner […] room if possable. The city view looked out to the court house much better view. Hotel staff were super friendly, very appoligitic for the condition of the first room they moved us to the second room. Very nice. I thought the pool was heated it may be but not in March, the water was ice cold much better to be enjoyed in the summer months. Security is high priority for the hotel staff, they saw us dancing in the hall on their security cameras. Tip- Don't act silly, because you are on candid camera. We need to be able to see what is going on in the hallways and prevent anyone from disturbing the rest of our guests. This is too benefit everyone. Thank you for the 3 out of 5 score. We presume you are referring to the tv remote control and it is unacceptable that a remote is held together with tape. Based on your review, we have instructed every housekeeper to check carefully and if they find any remote that is not in perfect working condition, then it must be replaced. If you are looking for a descent place on the riverwalk this is it. It is a bit secluded and a night walk did put me in a rush to get inside the hotel. If you get a room by the elevator request a different room! I should have. I could not sleep because the elevator was non-stop most of the night. The door security chain feel off, didn't close, I did […] call front desk but no one ever showed up to fix it, I had to figure it out myself. Even the hotel front office person was surprised at the rate I got. I did have to pay another $12 for parking which I wasn't aware of until after I booked the hotel. It would have been nice to have known this up front. We are so pleased that you found our hotel “very nice and the staff very accommodating.” It is our goal to ensure you have an excellent stay in our lovely heritage hotel. We will look into how we can more clearly convey that there is a charge for parking, even though it is probably one of the lowest rates in San Antonio. Some online travel companies do bundle the parking into the rate at no charge from time to time so please accept our apology that the charge was not made clear to you. As for hearing the movie next door, this is a big challenge for all hotels as some guests turn the volume up very high and often it is because they have hearing difficulties. Next time, please contact the front desk and we will kindly ask them to lower the volume. Any hotel would do this for you as it is unreasonable for another guest to do this.

Hotel is at the wrong en d of the Riverwalk. We stayed there and had to pay to park in their garage. Our room was across from the elevator and we could hear everything as if there was not even a door on the room. Web picture showed a jacuzzi tub and it is not. Where to start! My wife and I arrived to the hotel to find that the TV was not working. We were then moved to a different room where we uncovered blood stains in teh sheets. Were were then moved once again to uncover pubic hairs underneath one of the sheets. This hotels seems to have a low standard when it comes to house keeping. We are taking you comments very seriously. As management, this is totally unsatisfactory and will be discussing this with our housekeeping staff. As you will see we have many reviews complimenting our clean rooms and comfortable beds. A guest below writes, “the pillows and sheets are the most comfortable I have experienced…very clean.” So obviously someone on our housekeeping team is not taking their job seriously and we will correct this immediately. The pictures of this hotel are extremely misleading! The hotel is very old and run down. My room was stinky and the bed was uncomfortable. I was on the top floor and heard noises above me, like something scurrying around. The alarm clock didn't work. The shower barely worked. I could hear the TV in the room beside me like it was in my room. I paid extra […] for a "river view" room, but they didn't have any left. The breakfast was mediocre and my order was wrong. I thought I was getting a good place by the pictures, but the place is nothing like those pictures! It is also not very close to the Riverwalk, like they make you think. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! We are disappointed that you stay was not exceptional as this is our goal. As you can see 133 other guests have given our hotel an average score of 4 out of 5, and 80% of past guests would refer our hotel to others. We understand everyone has a different perspective of a situation. It was a pleasure staying here. The staff at the bar were very friendly, recommending places to go out in town based on what I explained I was looking for and it was easy getting stuff billed to my room. The rooms themselves were nice, I wish I could have stayed longer.

If not for the lack of a working shower the next morning, I would review the hotel in a higher light. Having to wash my hair from my knees however, gains the hotel a less than favorable review.
We are astounded to hear of your experience. Upon reading your review we had our housekeepers check every shower and we could not find any problem. They all worked 100%. And, we have not heard of this from any other guest. We know our water controls (shower tap) are a little different as we have tried to keep many of the heritage features of our hotel and possibly you were unfamiliar with how to turn the water on –it can be tricky. We also looked in our maintenance log and could not find any record of a guest calling about this problem. If you would be good enough to contact our General Manager with your name and room number we would like to double-check to ensure no one else has a similar issue.

I say on the riverwalk about 5 times a year and this hotel is way over priced for its location and quality. Nothing at the hotel was organized or easy and many things just didn't work. I will never stay at this hotel again. For the money the money either Drury or the Holiday Inn are much much better.

Friendly staff and also has a great cafe and bar in the lobby. The only problem was the parking garage is difficult to navigate and there is not enough parking.
