There was no warm/hot water, either at night or in the morning. Could not take a shower. "Continental" breakfast included only coffee, but we got to the office at 9:30 am and were told we were too late for coffee. I called and left message on voicemail saying we would be arriving late (10:30 or 11 p.m.) They said they never got the message.
"Just Keep Driving..."
Hawaii isn't so big that you can't invest a couple hours to keep driving to Hilo. Waimea is a nice town, but this hotel isn't, especially for the price you pay. The staff however are extremely nice and helpful. This is a pretty old run down motel, and very basic. "Castle Waimea Country Lodge, Big Island Hawaii"
We had room 116. The room literally smelled awful. We had to open the windows first thing. The Bathroom door scrapes the floor. The Bedsheets were not 100% clean. For what you get it's way to expensive. There are much better deals on Big Island, for example in Waikoloa Village.
Lodge was comfortable, clean, good location being close to the town. Had problems with the hot water, only had lukewarm water in the morning. Also thought they had free internet, but had to pay $10 for it. But they did reimburse the fee because of the problems with the hot water.
"Convenient location but a little old."
This hotel is at a very convenient spot in Waimea village, close to shopping and restaurants, right by the intersection of the two main roads. The hotel is however a little old, and the room had a musty smell. Could use some updating, including some noise insulation. The room was clean however, and the internet cable-link worked well.

"No breakfast just coffee"
The hotel is located a very convenient location...getting to the Waipio valley as well as Kohala coast is easy from here..Waimea itself is also a very picturesque place...the hotel is near the foothills of green valleys giving an impression of an English countryside.Not many people stay here...which you may or may not like.The room was spacious,well […] furnished and comfortable.There was free internet access near the lodge office.The only odd thing during our stay was although we were told about a complimentary breakfast it was just coffee...that was annoying. "Nice hotel"
The hotel, especially the rooms upstairs, were lofty, clean, and spacious, with nice windows opening to hear the wind and cows on hills behind the hotel. Very pleasant and nice feel.

Hotel somme toute assez basique, mais tout est là. Proximité grandes surfaces, couchage généreux, et kitchenette en font sans doute un bon choix si vous ne voyagez pas seul ... Salle de bain vétuste, mais plutôt propre. Accueil impersonnel à priori, mais en réalité l'équipe s'est avérée très sympathique. Waimea est idéalement situé sur l'île, et […] l'altitude est un atout appréciable en période chaude! Attention, la carte ne pointe pas tout à fait au bon endroit, et vous risquez comme moi de passer plusieurs fois à côté sans le voir : chercher un panneau mentionnant "Waimea Contry Lodge", et non "Castle Waimea Country Lodge"... l'hotel ne se situe pas directement sur la route, mais derrière un autre établissement.
