STAFF IS SO FRIENDLY, FOR THE VALET, BELLMAN TO THE FRONT DESK. ONLY HNG TO IMPROVE THE COFFE BAR SERVICE IN BOTH LOCATIONS LONG WAIT FOR A CUP OF JAVA!

My stay here was mediocre at best. I spent as little time as possible here. They were shooting a reality show here daily and that was a little annoying. The lighting in my room was very dim and it still didn't prevent me from seeing these little bugs that were in the room. The shower gel they give you did smell amazing. great location. they offered an upgrade but i did not take advantage as the room was very sufficient for my purposes. the room was spotless and comfortable. the facilities were in excellent condition and the service was excellent. well worth the cost.

This was the second hotel I checked into that day, the first one was a false advertisement. When I booked my stay with The Catalina I was a bit nerves because I wasn't sure if it was going to be as shown online. Upon my arrival the front desk employee asked if I wanted to see the room. 1) at least 1/4 mile walk to the beach. 2) I'm 6'1 and needed to be about 5'8 to fit on the beds. 3) nastiest bathroom I've ever had at a hotel. 4) no coffee available in room or lobby until after 8am. 4) bad music played so loud in lobby I couldn't sleep until about midnight. 5) horrible old television. The ONLY issue we had was with the shower. Cool shower head on the ceiling, but a half wall with no closing door. Seems very chic, but causes a HUGE flood in the bathroom. Other than that, amazing hotel, awesome rooms, tempurpedic mattresses, and great proximity to South Beach. Also I was never charged a "resort fee".

Great location/clean rooms/comfy beds/great service.

The Catalina is great, but for the next 5 weeks they are shooting a reality tv show there, which is very intrusive. They catered to the show, at the expense of us paying customers.

Go to the pool on the rooftop and Robert will be there ready to make your day great. Everything was great. Great location for SB beaches and Lincoln Mall, etc.

Nice location and clean nice hotel with great bed comfort. bad soundisolation so we got disturbed by neighbours and a filming crew outside who shot a scene for a new show (no information about this when checking in!) bad food at the pool.

Great place for young party goers! Great location and facilities. But like all places in Miami they add all kinds of charges to everything!

Excellent stay, however the bathroom need a little touch up. And the parking situation is a disaster. Valet is 30 dollars and a parking lot is 25 dollars. If you arre paying this pricey rate, parking shoukd be included. Happy hour was excellent.

I really like this hotel. Was really good.

This hotel for a weekend is great!! Near everything. Starting off with check in at the front desk was great, Forest attended us in the utmost professional manner. I wish their were many like him at hotels we've checked in at. The bar inside Maxine was fun and the food and drinks were delicious. During afternoon drinks Eva attended us and she was beyond […] sweet and while I'm here writing this I'm missing the drink she made for us called GLC. The staff at the front desk was so rude to me. I booked through a third party early in the day around 2-3ish. Even though I new I could no check in until later in the day because of a Buisness meeting I had to attend in FourtLauderdale. But when I did get to the hotel later that night to check in, I was told by the front desk that I need to wait a monte […] do he could check close out the day on his end. His name was Carlos. I remember because that's my name. He was rude, and ended up having me wait in the lobby for over 30 mins for a room that I paid for hours earlier in the day. Really?! Aside from that I asked if I could have a late check out. Now we all know that this is an option by the hotel to do for their guest. I hoped that he would sympathize with my situation but no he said noon was checkout and that he could do nothing for me. That's fine but don't be rude about it. As my time went on waiting he then told me that he could do as late as 1 pm checkout for me. I appreciated it but come one thats the best you could do. Later on the next morning around 9:30 am the cleaning lady's were banging on my door with the vacume in the hall way. I couldn't believe it. I ended up having to stay in Miami one other night but wasn't dare going to stay there. So I checked out and took my Buisness down the street to another hotel where I paid a little more but was satisfied and treat great. Never will I stay here or recommend this place to anyone. This hotel could be a very great experience if only the customer service was a genuine and actually conveyed care. More than anything else, the customer service seemed more receptive only when there was money involved or the opportunity to make money on their end was apparent. Otherwise, it had a perfect location.

It was great for the price we paid. Close to everything. My only complaint was are room was right by the lobby and every time someone used the public bathroom and dried their hands with the hand drier we could hear it in our room even at 4am.

Will stay there again.

Their staff was friendly the room was nice and the drink prices were great. Nice atmosphere nightly vibe.

This is a fun & exciting hotel with a great location. Easy walk to the beach & Lincoln Ave. Free drinks each evening, great breakfast at the outdoor cafe. This is a great place to stay if you like to have fun. My husband & I would stay here again. Downfall--we had a rental car & valet was rather pricey but no more so than other hotels in the area.

Hotel is tiny but looks good, rooms decorations are modern, comfy bed, very clean. The only pitfall was the Bathroom needs some real updates. not for families. Hotel staff was very selective on who to help, I guess if you look to comfortable dressed they will not help you. Why I say this was because when we arrive no one came to our help with the luggage, […] then a lady arrived looking well dressed and they rushed to her help. Never took our luggage up to the room, There is also a fee per day added to your room. No internet. Valet Parking was very expensive $32 per day and took more than 30 minutes to get our car. one occasion I called ahead for our car and 30 minutes later our car was not ready and end up waiting 50 minutes. I have stayed at the Catalina for two years in a row during my February vacation, and each time I have left impressed. I have stayed at numerous other places in the area, and the Catalina is by far the best. All the hotels in the area are older, but the Catalina is the most kept up. It is in a great area, right down the street from Lincoln Rd, and has […] so much to do within itself. The hotel gives great discounts if you time it right, and it provides lots of discounts for places in the area. The rooms are sexy and fun for couples. Free beach towels and great service! Had a great time here.. Everyone was very friendly... Food was reasonably priced, but the drinks were very expensive. The budget room was small.. if you only are going to sleep there, its fine.. but there is only enough room to walk around the beds in the room and the lighting while very nice, was also very dim. This Hotel is for younger people who don't mind the loud music in the lobby/restaurant/bar/hallway to your room. Yes, all of the above( all in one )is how you get to your room after you check in and have to go back outside to the other building, past the restaurant hostess on the street cafe and the dinner and Bar guest. Rooms are small but stylish. Hallways outside our rooms were quite musty and dirty. Service was decent. Maxine Bistro had slow service but had great food and a nice menu. Great music throughout the place. The Catalina provides average rooms and service in a great neighborhood.

I am a young professional who stayed at this hotel for business for one night. Upon arrival, I discovered that I must have been staying near some kind of noisy mechanism; as there was a constant alarm like ringing near the door/closet of my room that would go off peridically. The shower is beautful, however, the shower handle decided to fal off mid-shower […] and I got drenched trying to figure out how to turn off the shower with no knob...the plus was, they sent a maintanance personel to fix it within 20 minutes. Overall,a good experience, I would stay again and the reason I titled the review "for ther young party goer" is because they pumped party music on the bottom level at least until 4 or 5 am...right when I had to wake up to catch a flight. This hotel certainly caters to the young and those who like to party. My partner and I are in our early 30s and I felt a bit too old. However, there was a very mixed crowd and it was a lot of fun. The pool wasn't really advertised, but there are TWO and they're great. Would go back for sure.

Our room was spectacular , spacious, and well decor . So pretty I loved it

The location of this hotel was amazing. It was right in the middle of south beach close enough to take a $5 taxi ride to the clubs and restaurant of ocean dr but far enough that you could sleep without the loud noises. Stayed only for a night, Pros: Comfortable, nice clean hotel. Friendly staff, Located in central bal-harbor. Cons: Breakfast area is a bit tiny, only 4 people can sit there there. Coffee machine in my room was broken.

This is the classic example of the bait and switch hotel tricks they employ in Miami. My husband and I were not familiar with this property in Miami so when we looked at the photos on line through tripadvisor, it looked very beautiful. Little did I know when we showed up that there were 2 separate buildings. One was this old, dated, dirty hotel and […] the other building was the updated, modern, clean hotel. Well, guess which one we stayed in...the room had this damp stale air, the built in hair dryer did not work, the bathroom was semi-cleaned, the staff was curt and unhelpful. It was pouring down rain the first day we arrived, I asked if the hotel had any umbrellas we may borrow, the front desk girl who checked us in said no but that they had ponchos we can purchase for $5 each. These ponchos were a glorified plastic trash bag with a hole cut out for the head! I told her I just saw one of her staff give those same ponchos to two girls for FREE. She then looked at one of her co workers and rolled her eyes. She reluctantly gave me one but said she could not give me two for free. Loved the locatio, but wish the room was bigger, (got the "on a budge") said it was $$$$ per day but after all the fees it came to way more. needless to say, the parking ridiculous!!! If you are looking for the traditional comforts of a hotel this is not your place. If you just want somewhere to come back to after a day at the beach or a night of partying then this will work. You will not want to spend much time here.

Loved our stay here! The hotel has a really hip, fun style-staff was awesome! Rooftop pool and restaurants were sooo great to relax at. I would definitely stay here again. It was literally right around the corner from Lincoln Rd. shopping and steps away from the beach!!
