"Nice facility, average customer service"
Hotel in a very nice location and generally OK, and is undergoing upgrades which will make the physical facilities nicer. They need to upgrade their staff knowledge and training (with the exception of the omelet maker at breakfast - he was awesome). Some specific negatives: 1. Service in the beach cabana restaurant was extremely slow (for everyone, […] not just us) - they were clearly woefully understaffed and unprepared for yet another week of families on spring break. 2. Concierge was never there, and we were directed to front desk for assistance, but they were not all up-to-speed (case in point, hotel had helpful maps to nearby locations of interest, but the person I spoke with initially at the front desk had no clue about this). 3. Resort has privileges at a nearby tennis club (nice) but the resort shuttle bus driver took my two teenagers to a neighborhood tennis facility instead- thank goodness I had a car and could retrieve them. 4. We stayed in the Villa portion of the resort, it was spacious and very comfortable. The Villas would be a great place for families since it offers a kitchenette and living space area. The hotel is luxurious and very comfortable, and the service is great. That said, no opportunity is missed to charge the guests extra. It starts out with basic hotel parking at $14 daily. Breakfast is not only expensive, but you're charged for a glass of tap water! There is also a note in the hotel room that you could be charged for REARRANGING the […] items in the minibar. We were so disappointed. MANY of the amenities listed on Expedia, such as bathrobes, were not in our room. When we got in our room we discovered we shared a balcony with two other rooms - and there were wet swimsuits and towels draped over every chair and table. What we saw of the grounds were nice, but not worth the price of the room. Also went to […] gift shop during "normal" hours and it was closed, with a note on the door. This hotel is really great! Its definitely for those willing to shell out some $$$. They charge extra for parking and internet usage.The resort is really fancy and they have a bunch of amenities like a spa, private beach, pools, and golf. I wasnt really there for all the amenities. I wanted to be near the beach but it was a little farther away than […] i expected. its a 15 min drive to the center of jacksonville beach. the room was nice- comfy bed's, flat screen tv, mini bar...etc. Would recommend to anyone going to the area that doesnt mind a little distance from the beach. "Nice place, but for the more wealthy."
Next time I would rather stay at a hotel that is not a resort. This hotel is for visitors who will spend money on spas, golf, massages, room services. Most hotels of 2.5 to 3.5 stars will have internet service available, many TV channels to choose from, free parking and maybe continental breakfast. All of which they did not, which was amazing to me […] because it is an expensive place to stay for the average person. I was just so shocked to realize that there was a charge of $12.95 a day just to use the internet. I wasn't real sure what you are paying the extra cost for. I liked the hotel. My wife liked the beach club and private beach. We were looking for a more resort feel. If there is one? Everyone on the staff was great. Room service was promt!! "Great Hotel but Needs Some TLC"
This is a very nice hotel in a wonderful location. Our only real complaint about the facilities are that the villas are quite old and in need of renovation. The decor is definitely 1980's and the walls are so thin that you can hear the people in adjacent rooms change their minds. We were told that the hotel was completely booked while we were there for a Conference, but it never felt like there were that many people there. Overall, the hotel is great. Hotel was extremely nice and clean. The room got a little cold at night and it didn't seem like the heat was working. It got unseasonbly cold when we were there so I don't think this is normally an issue. Parking is $10 per day if you park yourself and $20 per day for valet. Great venue with ample parking, nice views of the pool, good restaurants, clean and for the most part quiet. The staff is courteous and helpful. Hotel was okay. My isues were that the walls were very thin and I could hear every conversation in the next room and am sure that they heard mine. The plumbing was also loud! I called for extra towels that never came that day, i got them when i saw housekeeping. The pools and hot tub needed to be skimmed of leaves when my family went. "Not as good as you would expect"
I was disappointed by this hotel, which felt like an average hotel trying to pass itself off as top-drawer. It wasn't terrible by any means, and the room itself was comfortable and well-maintained, and the furnishings were very nice. The V. Kelly pub and the Augustine Grill I found to have great food and top-notch service, and the Starbucks in the lobby […] was a welcome option. But the air conditioning went on with a click and a whoosh that would wake me up in the night, and the toilet would erupt in loud gurgling several times a day. I could hear every word of the conversation in the room next door. I was not pleased to be charged a not insubstantial fee to use the internet daily. Rather than wait for the elevator to go up one flight to my room, I preferred to take the stairs, and they were dirty, dimly lit and unpainted.
