in front of hotel (we treated it as local attraction). Halfway between Monastiraki and Omonia metro stations (the latter seems now quite normal place). Everywhere (antiquities, museums, restaurants) you could go on foot. Breakfest, wi-fi, small fridge (not minibar), complimentary coffee included. Terrace on the roof with Athens full panorama available day and night (also for smokers).
"Location"Oceniony przez gościa grupy Hotels.com w dniu paź 11, 2012
I picked that one because of location, a great deal in compare price/location. During the night district makes impression dangerous, we got a room where we felt a cigarette smoke, cleanliness was poor and furninhing old, reception staff very friendly, we even got some car space near entrance to the hotel. Good hotel for one night stay for those who likes sightseeing

Near Syntagma Square, home to the Greek Parliament, Athens’ most expensive residential quarter is the domain of wealthy Greeks and foreign embassy staff. Glamorous socialites frequent the fashionable bar-restaurants, chic boutiques and designer stores. A funicular serves the pine-clad slopes of Mount Lycabettus, and several of Athens’ top museums are within walking distance.

We had a quick overnight layover in Athens. The st George was ideal, we took a cab to the Acropolis and walked back to the hotel through Plaka before taking the tram up Lycobettus for dinner at Orizontes. The rooms we had looked out at the Acropolis and were perfect for an adult family of 5. Nice rooftop pool as well.Prawdziwa opinia gościa Hotels.com
"Nothing like the pictures"
We chose this hotel based on the beautiful pictures of the rooms and the hotel, however it looked nothing like the pictures. We arrived at night so I thought the hotel looked beautiful as we checked in, but by the time we got to our room I could see that the place was in need of updating and was worn. The elevators are very slow. The rooms are narrow […] and uncomfortable. Even though there are chairs and a desk, they are mismatched and not comfortable. The bed was hard and the blankets were not quite large enough for our two twins pushed together to make a king. The bathroom tiles did not match throughout. The regular bathroom door was replaced with a trendy glass door that doesn't quite fit. Our floor was on the 5th floor, which meant it was close enough to the 6th floor to get wi-fi for free, but unfortunately it was also right under the room used for private events and people stomped on the ceiling all night. Just after that starts, the staff starts preparing breakfast so we could hear and smell that too. The staff was rude at this hotel (in contrast to the wonderful people we met everywhere else.) The hotel is also at the top of a very high hill and if you plan on walking, get ready for a hike. You wont want to leave the hotel once you make it to the top. If you book any excursions, most tour buses will not pick up up as they can't make it on the narrow streets. We got a good deal, but it was not worth it at all. "Two stars too many"
I've been staying at the St George for nearly 10 years, and in that time the place has gone downhill fast. It's now a three-star hotel, still charging five-star prices. The bedrooms were always small, but now they're falling to pieces too: the showers leak all over the bathroom floor because nobody's replaced the seals; the duvets are unbuttoned at […] the bottom so come apart while you're asleep; the TVs in some rooms are boxy and don't work; and on the lower floors in particular, the walls are so thin that you may not sleep. But to management, it's as though everything is still hunky-dory: champagne breakfast (that's a bottle of champagne, toast and strawberries) costs 100 euros plus a "discretionary" 25% (!!) service charge; car parking is about 20 euros per day; and wifi is a breathtaking 8 euros per hour - not that you'd be able to do much more than book a ferry ticket within an hour, so slow is the connection. All this is a real shame, since the staff are generally great and the location - panoramic views from central Athens' swankiest neighbourhood - is perfect, at least for those able-bodied enough to climb the steepish hill. But overall, this is nowadays a hotel to avoid. Przeczytaj więcejPrawdziwa opinia gościa Hotels.com

"Best location in Athens for a hotel"
The hotel is in a phantastic location of Athens, in the upmarket Kolonaki area, which is the only area in the center of Athens still good. The hotel has excellent acropolis views, make sure you ask for a room with a view of Acropolis. It is not exactly 5 star, the rooms are ok, but not with great ambience, however, the staff is excellent and anything […] you want is not too much. We had a very pleasant 3-day stay there. "Not bad, but needs to improve"
This is a nice hotel overall, but certainly not 5*. Pleasant staff at check-in, but off-hand at check-out. The room was good, except for the lack of extras that are usual in such a hotel, and cheap toiletries. The walls are paper thin as I could hear a telephone conversation from the next room very clearly. Good to have a second door to close off any […] noise from the corridor, but the walls need soundproofing (as has been done at the Herodion Hotel, incidentally). We couldn't fault the breakfast: excellent range of food, very good service, and an incredible view. Przeczytaj więcejPrawdziwa opinia gościa Expedia

"Great hotel for a family"
The St. George Lycabettus is a very good hotel, with a fine, helpful staff on all levels. They responded very well when there was a serious, loud argument in the room and hall adjacent to our room. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with an incredible view of the Acropois and Parthenon. I do recommend that you include the breakfast in the room charge […] for 10 Euros. The location on the side of Lycabettus hill is away from the bustle of Konaraki square and a cab ride to the Plaka and Acropolis, but a short walk to the the Konaraki district. We found it to be a great choice at the Expedia rates. The free wi-fi could be better, however. We had to upgrade to the paid wi-fi for 18 Euros per 24 hour period for an internet conference. "Hotel with an incredible view of Athens"
The hotel has a beautiful ambience and the location is amazing, with views of the Acropolis. Staff were pleasant & helpful and the breakfast was very good. The main difficulty of this hotel is the design of the room. There was little storage - despite having cabinets bedside and for the TV, none of these opened to use for storage. Also, the bathroom […] design was not comfortable - not a full shower closure but a half-glass door and the lighting over the vanity was harsh and uncomfortable. These features would not outweigh the location and ambience of the hotel, but they were annoying. Although at first it seemed that the hotel was a bit out of the way, we discovered that it was actually pretty convenient to many Athens neighborhoods and sites. But it is up on the hill, so if someone doesn't like to walk uphill, it could be a problem, although taxis were readily available. Przeczytaj więcejPrawdziwa opinia gościa Expedia

"Delightful hotel, a real complement to your stay"
I had the most wonderful stay at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Athens. The location was convenient, the staff were incredibly helpful and polite and the view was phenomenal. I was only disturbed by the large American travelling party that have no regard for other people and made quite a bit of noise in the late hours. "Don't waste your money on this place"
I paid for a room with a view. I got a view of a construction crane. I expressed disappointment to the manager and he said I booked for an inside room. He offered to change me to room with a view.... The view of a tree close enough to block out the entire Parthenon. Later when I showed him my Expedia booking confirmation, he said that is what I got. 9 […] Euros for a beer? Are you kidding me? I understand they will charge somewhat more than the street, but I could buy the beer downtown for a Euro twenty. 5 Euros I understand; 9 no. They also charge you 3.5 Euros to call a cab.... "Hotel with an expensive view."
The hotel is very nice with numerous amenities expected at a 5-star hotel, and the staff at the hotel were fabulous - they went out of their way several times to help us. However, the rooms are very small and the furniture in the rooms appear to have been purchased based on appearance and were not functional in these small rooms. We had to move furniture […] around several times to get through the room and/or open the door to the balcony. We paid extra for a "deluxe view room" thinking we would have a view of the Acroplis, but instead had a vew of the construction site next door. The Acropolis view room was even more money, but that wasn't clear at the time I booked the reservation. The view from the roof is spectacular, but the food in the restaurant was very expensive. My parents had breakfast one day at $22 euros each #almost $60 American#. Also, they closed the pool deck #top floor# before sunset so you couldn't go up there for the night view. Although the hotel is close to City Center, is is on the side of a hill so walking to the City Center is easy, but the hike back up the hill is rough. Przeczytaj więcejPrawdziwa opinia gościa Expedia

"Really not 5 star"
The rooms that claim to be 'courtyard view' ....do not be fooled there is no courtyard as such - there is a central well that houses all the chambermaid trolleys so if you are lucky enough to have your window open - these will wake you each morning at 0730!! These rooms are also very small and dark - hardly any natural light at all The rooms are very […] tired, decor shabby, showers didn't work properly in all 3 rooms we ended up in! "St George Lycabettus Hotel"
I requested an upgrade room and paid a surcharge for this. Very ordinary room with ghastly outlook, dim and dismal and only one pillow For a hotel rated 5 star, this was not what I was looking for. No access to food until 7.30 pm - way to late if u have been travelling all day and need to eat. This review is for Hotels.com rather than the public domain […] - if your suppliers are charging for upgraded rooms then we should get what we pay for. "Awful hotel - not worth it"
This is one of those hotels that looks great in the lobby. I had to move rooms because the first room I got smelled like an ashtray. They were very fast, and moved me right away. The TV did not work. The room smelled musty. Those things didn't bother me.... as much as the two (yes, TWO) times that the showerhead fell on me while I was showering. The […] first time, I thought maybe it slipped and it was an accident. It hit me in the middle of my shower, right on top of my head. I didn't bother to tell the staff about it because I thought maybe it was a one-time thing. But, the next morning, the same thing happened. The toilet would not flush very well- you had to pump the handle to make it work. The food was mediocre, overpriced - except for breakfast. The view in the breakfast room is indeed wonderful, and the food is good. Not great, but definitely good. I will say, that when I complained to the manager in the morning, he was apologetic and very nice. He asked what he could do to make it up to me. But I also didn't care much since I was checking out. The staff was very good - polite, concerned, and asked how they could help. The room was immaculate and the cleaning staff did a great job. But overall, I would definitely not stay here again. Paying too much for internet, suffering through the bathroom annoyances - sadly not worth it just for nice staff and a good breakfast. Przeczytaj więcejPrawdziwa opinia gościa Hotels.com

Was pleased with the hotel's location, we were able to walk everywhere (we only took one taxi) and there were plenty of good restaurants and cafes nearby.
