Pobyt w hotelu korzystny pod względem położenia, krótki spacer na zakupy i bliska odległość atrakcji dla zwiedzających miasto. Dużym minusem była wysoka cena za usługi gastronomiczne, wręcz kosmiczna cena za śniadanie w hotelu (ponad 40 $ za osobę - szwedzki stół) ale po drugiej stronie ulicy świetny lunch bar z dużą ilością breakfast menu. Zjedzenie dobrego śniadania nie było problemem(mnóstwo restauracji)w promieniu kilkuset metrów. Drugim minusem był brak widoku z okna, tylko mury sąsiednich budynków, nawet nie widziałam nieba z 16 piętra mojego pokoju. I jeszcze nie spełnione prośby przy rezerwacji. Byliśmy z dziećmi i wszstkie pokoje były na różnych piętrach a pokoje kupowaliśmy 3 miesiące wcześniej (prośba o wspólny korytarz nie spełniona) więc nie powinno być problemu w tej kategorii hotelu, a jednak był. Pokój jak na USA mały.

Hotel w bardzo dogodniej lokalizacji, blisko Union Square, łatwy dostęp metrem do całego Manhatanu. Sam pokój bardzo malutki, ale wystarczający na krótki pobyt, łóżko trochę skrzypiące. Spory hałas od ulicy spowodowany wbudowanym klimatyzatorem w okno.

"Good service despite remodeling"
Will be great when the remodeling is done. The work did not disturb me and they gave me a remodeled room. However there is no room service which I found inconvenient and the mini-bar was not stocked.

Great location. Rooms have recently been remodeled. However they are still undergoing construction which cause some incovenience i.e. gym not open and random fire alarms.
The hotel and staff were perfect in every way. Can't wait for our next trip to NYC.
"My worst hotel experience EVER in New York City"
7:30PM and there were NO rooms ready for occupancy. . (2) We quickly realized that there was significant construction activity in the lobby area, but discovered that there was drilling, grinding, sawing activity adjacent to/and above our room 2803. When I inquired about it I was advised that the construction activity would be from 7AM to 9PM. (3) The […] housekeeping activity was mediocre at best, with the bathroom and bed left incomplete and cleaning supplies left in our room. (4) There was a late night false fire alarm with noisy but inaudible instructions over the intercom system. And then, there was a 6:30AM false fire alarm and more loud speaker instructions. I have never complained about a hotel, we just pick something different for our next visit. WE FELT AS IF THE HELMSLEY WAS HOPING WE WOULD DEPART EARLY AND THAT PERHAPS THE MANAGEMENT DOES NOT LIKE PRE-PAID GUESTS SUCH AS OURSELVES. I intend to write to the CEO of Starwood and suggest that there is a very serious morale problem within their workforce in this location. They are probably fully aware of the situation. "construction was noisy and intrusive"
THe hotel is located perfectly for our purposes.. theater and a visit to the U.N. But we did find the construction annoying.. ALso, we were told that there was not going to be water service between 10 am and 2 pm on Friday.. so we made arrangements to be out of the room early, only to find that the water did NOT go off..

"Never Again"
The pictures that you see online of the rooms are beautiful. The reality is a smack in the face. My room was extremely outdated. I booked a king size bed and got two double beds, two of the lamps did not work, and the ugly green stained carpet did not appeal to me. The shower head was filthy and needed to be replaced. They also need to re-grout the […] shower and around the tub. I was only staying one night so decided not to make a big deal, but my plans changed and I had to extend my stay. I called the Hotel and inquired about extending my stay. I asked if I can get a different room because I did not like the room I was given. I was told yes, but their is a price increase. I calmly explained the conditions of the room and asked if I can get a better room at the same price. I thought I deserved a discount, but I did not want any confrontation. The individual on the phone was silent. I said, "Hello?" He then answered, "No, you cannot get a discount." He then repeated the upgraded price. I was livid. The hotel is obviously under renovation/construction. Most of the amenities are closed and the staff was more on the rude side. But our room was AMAZING for the price that we paid. The lighting was terrible on the desk. There were no plugs for my computer and phone. At one point none of the elevators worked. I have stayed at your sister hotel and will stay there again. Nicer rooms, better lighting and plugs.

The hotel is in a nice location, and clean enough but does not ressemble the pictures on the website we saw. It is undergoing renovations and I think the online pics were more of an impression of what it will be like. We were told we were given a room upgrade but I'd hate to have seen the room we would have had. Stayed here for two wekday nights as the office is close by. The limited interaction I had with the service was very good. They did not however have the room with a king I had reserved but did offer to make one available the next night if I choose. The front was clean and attractive as were the hallways. I was on the 30th floor so there was minimal […] noise...but hey, it's New York. My room was clean but was dated. The dark green carpet had a few stains, the closet door had major gouges in it that had tried to be repaired and the wallpaper in areas was pulling away from the wall. The hair dryer didn't work. When you don't pack one because you know that one is provided that can be serious for some folks. In addition, you must pay for Interent access. A little odd to me since so many hotels not even as nice as this one offer this at no additional charge. I would say the stay was average yet the price was a little above average for the area on hotels[dot]com. "Decent hotel, nothing special"
The Helmsley was good for New Year's at Times Square. The room was spacious, the service was decent, especially considering the number of people coming in, but I would likely stay in a more interesting area next time.

"This place is a dump"
This place is a dump. We checked in to find a half consumed cookie in the corner, stains on the floor and bed, a bathtub that wouldn't drain and an absent housekeeping crew. Not ideal at all.
Good internet connections expensive and hard to access. In this day and age, internet should be included

This is the second time l have stayed at this hotel and it was great, the only thing l would like too see is tea and coffee making items in the room but everything else was great.
"Great NYC Location But Trouble with the Front Desk"
We recently stayed at this hotel. We normally stay a few blocks over at the Grand Hyatt. We reserved a Premium King room which is one of the newly renovated rooms on Hotels.com and confirmed our reservation the night before. When we arrived we were checked-in by a woman named Pei who told us we had a Double bed room on a non-renovated floor I told her […] I did not believe that was correct and she was quite rude and let me know that I was incorrect and there were no Premium Rooms available. Thankfully I had a copy of my reservation in my luggage and took it out to show Pei. She refused to touch my paperwork and gave me a pen and told me to circle where it said the room we reserved was a Premium King. When I did as she instructed she took the paper and without saying anything walked away. She came back several minutes later, still not speaking to me and started working on the computer I interupted her and asked her if my room would be ready, without looking up from the computer she said we would be put into the Premium King, as I had reserved. She refused to speak to me after that, just handing us the room key and going back to the computer I really was surprised how rude she was. Rooms are older. Need to be updated. Heat never worked in our room. Maint. man said it was controlled by hotel and nothing that he could do. We froze at night. The housekeepers were very noisy, slamming doors, speaking loudly, etc. It didn't help that they used the room in between ours and our children as a supply room. We arrived at 8pm and were told our room wasn't clean. An hour later we were given the wrong room. All the while the staff was unpleasant and dismissive. The room was adequately clean, but not up to par with the name of the hotel. The rooms are more spacious than is expected in Manhattan. "Comfortable and convenient"
Nice experience,staff was very pleasant and helpful and the room was very clean and quiet. The location was very close to subway.

Service good and clean. Very convenient to subway at Grand Central. The room we had, on top floor, with a nice view, could use a bit of a face lift. Rug looked a bit worn and there were cracks here and there (but they were painted over which showed that they tried to take care of it. The hotel staff, including the bell staff, front desk and restaurant could not have been more courteous and accommodating. My overall impression was very positive and my only dissapointment was how dated the rooms were. I'm confident Starwood Hotels will renovate this property to a level one would expect from a Starwood property.

Overall we had an excellent stay at your hotel but we had a couple of reservations. The lack of a coffee maker and refridgerator took some of the shine off the otherwise excellent room. We appreciate that these are difficult times but it is the little things that make the difference between average and special.
