Overall, a good place to stay. We were close to all the 2012 Kentucky Derby Marathon activities. Couldn't have been a better place to stay for the marathon weekend activities.

I was attending a convention at the International Convention Center and the location was great. Across the intersection was the official hotel of the convention but the rate was 3 times higher. The hotel room was clean but was of the old design with cars parked three feet from the front door on the first level ( my room). The parking lot is shared or […] owned by Papa Johns Pizza and was being sealed during my stay. this caused additional noise and inconvenience. The front door did not seal well and ran the wall-mounted air conditioner to keep noise down. The free breakfast was just the very basics and wasn't maintained well. For the money, I don't think you can beat this hotel. I was in town for a conference, and didn't have my family. I didn't need all the fancy stuff that you pay for in higher priced hotels. "Noisy Place, but clean"
Busy corner, not the best neighborhood (but not horrible). Of four nights, it was very noisy only one night. On the positive, only a couple blocks from 4th Street Live, rooms look like they have been refurbed - A/C not crazy loud. Cleanliness of room was better than expected.

The econo lodge in downtown Louisville was definitely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I had to view 3 rooms before I was satisfied with the one I stayed in. The first two had signs of bed bugs. I would not have stayed at all if I hadn't pre payed thru hotels.com. Very noisy. Sirens all night long. Rooms were very shabby. I stayed at this hotel while attending a conference being held in the Kentucky International Convention Center. The location was excellent. It was only a block away from the convention center. The cost per night was excellent and was about half of what others paid staying in the bigger hotels nearby. The hotel staff was friendly and professional. The […] room was clean and comfortable. I appreciated the free Wi-Fi connection and it was fast enough for my needs. The neighborhood was the only concern but it was no different than any other area in major city. I did not feel unsafe or anything but also used common sense and wasn't walking around in the middle of the night either. One positive note was that there is a gas station across the street and their mini-mart was well-stocked with basic staples (bread, lunch meats, etc.) which saved me money on food costs. "Econolodge-Louisville location makes up for a lot"
This place would just be just adequate anywhere else, but if your looking for a decent, cheap place to stay in downtown Louisville, this is it. "convenient location but the price says it all!"
The walls were thin and the tvs from the other rooms sound lke they are in your room. Also, the key system is jacked and you have to do quite a few swipes to get in. will pay the extra dollars for the comfort and quiet in he marriot across the street!

I booked a New Years package on 4th St Live and wanted a hotel nearby. This hotel was the best price for miles around and was only a short (app 5min) walk from 4th St. I was very satisfied with the price and location and am looking forward to staying here next New Years.

"Charges for parking, not very safe"
Be aware this motel charges a daily rate for parking and the lot does not seem particularly secure. Hotel is generally comfortable, but my room was very cold even with the heat on because the door did not fully close.
If you only needed a bed to sleep in it would be OK. They ran short on parking and the simple fact that I paid the same price as what was offered at the Marriott was ludicrous. A show is in town so lets charge as much as we possibly can. Hopefully they use the extra $150 a night to update mattresses, pillows and comforters.

I am not sure why people spend money on a room just to to up all night slamming doors and yelling at each other at the top of their lungs. Over priced for the lack of security.

"Long night"
at 1 AM I woke up chilly, so turned on the heat. i blew only cold air until I turned it off. At 3 A.M. I woke up to a beeping sound that went off every 30 seconds; after trying unsuccessfully for twenty minutes to locate said beep I went back to bed. "Close to 4th Street Live, Fine Hotel"
We were only in Louisville for one night, did not need a very nice hotel, but did want proximity to 4th Street Live and the other downtown attractions. This worked perfectly- a bit nicer than we expected, clean, and convenient. Wouldn't recommend for more than a 2 night stay. Worked for us and we had a great time in Louisville!

"Exactly what I expected"
This is not a four-star hotel and would struggle to hit the three-star rating, but it is perfectly located to downtown, the museums, 4th St. Live and the Yum Center. For those people on a budget who want to be in the middle of the action, it is a perfect place to stay.
"Good location but room could be cleaner"
The room was essentially what we expected. The room needed a good vacuuming and the bathroom walls needed a washing. The heating/cooling unit fan was rather loud but it did drown out any traffic noise. If you are not a fussy person and just want a reasonably priced place to stay, this will fill the bill.
it was nice to have microwave and fidge in the room but it was more like a one nite stand motel. location was nice because it was downtown, would not stay again, very noisy because it was right on the street.

"Moldy smelling with no working heater"
The good - great cable, free wifi, good location, large refrigerator, microwave, abundant hot water in the shower. The bad - the room had no working heater. musty smelling. Shabby rooms. They couldn't move me into another room since they were sold out. They shrugged it off, while I shivered under blankets all night. One rude front desk attendant. Room smelt bad, heater fan made horrible squeeling and rattling noise. Paper thin walls, have no sound insulation to block out noise from loud neighbors at night. "works great for a night"
Needed somewhere to stay to party on 4th Street. worked perfectly. The neighborhood looks a little suspect, but never felt unsafe. had many rooms that night and didnt have a single problem. You get what you pay for, its no luxury hotel, but its clean and works great for a nights stay.

"Worst hotel ever"
I will never go to that hotel anymore and I really don't recommend anybody to stay there unless they have no other choice. To give you an idea, I wouldn't go out of the room after 7pm. The neighborhood is really bad, loud music until very late a night, noisy clients in the hotel.

So, I accidentally booked my room for the wrong night and the staff was more than helpful in fixing everything and getting us a room for the correct night. I would have given all stars to everything, but the location (though right next to the convention center, fancy hotels, etc.) is questionable. Woke up several times at night because there were (seemingly) several loud bachelor parties going on. A police car in the parking lot makes sure that the guest stay safe. Nothing happened and we did feel safe, […] but it would have been better had the police not needed to have a presence there. After all the good things I had heard about L'ville, my stay left me wondering why they would build the convention center in such an ugly part of town. We stayed at the Econo Lodge Downtown Louisville, Ky to go to the National Quartet Convention. We were VERY pleased. Room was BIG & Clean. Service desk great. Easy access in & out. All attractions within 10 miles. It was great. I would recommend anyone to stay there & we would definitely stay again.
