Comfort Inn by the Bay - San Francisco

Thin walls. Was not able to check in before 4pm. I have never had this problem before.

I rated the hotel service low for one main reason. I am handicapped, on a cane. I had to make three trips to my car to retrieve my luggage and not one employee offered to help. I parked in handicapp stall, but I had to wait for and person to move their car out of the only stall available that was NOT displaying a placard, but took the space anyway. […] I asked for assistance on this, but received none. We had an excellent experience here. In fact, we extended our stay and they were able to accommodate us, no problem. I would recommend this hotel to others. It is very reasonibly priced and satisfactory in every way. Thank you.

Comfort Inn on Van Ness and Lombard is a great walking distance to the wharf but the overall hotel amenities could use some updating. They showed a pool symbol and my son was very upset to find NO pool. There were not enough seats at breakfast so the breakfast "pressure" was intense every morning. Our family (with ages ranging from 4 to 90 years old) had a great time at the hotel. Excellent location right next to Lombard Street and a few blocks from the Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Embarcadero. Great value as well!! We;ll definitely go back!!

The hotel is fantastic. I know that many people will complain about the free breakfast since they provide the same menu day after day but it is totally okay for me. The only concern is the bald male receptionist with glasses. He is not friendly at all!!. I almost make a generalization towards the entire receptionist due to him. But later on I found […] that the other receptionists are very friendly (extremely friendly I think). If I have a chance (which is unlikely) to come to San Francisco again I will definitely go to this hotel. The staff was great! The breakfast was good and the rooms were very clean. What I really appreciated though, was that I am lactose intolerant and I asked if they had non-dairy liquid creamer for their coffe. They provide half and half and only the non-dairy icky dry powder. One and the gals, Cindy actually bought me a vanilla non-dairy creamer for my […] stay and they kept in the fridge and would get it out for me for breakfast. That's what I call service! My sisters and I stayed here for one night to be near the Wharf. The location and the continental breakfast were great, but everything else was sub par. I asked for directions and the lady behind the counter, with an attitude, said" do you see where my hand is pointing?" Nice. breakfast (included) was good, it's less than a mile from Fisherman's Warf/ Ghiradelli Square, close to shopping, bus line, tourist activities. It was clean and easy to find. 3rd time we've stayed at this location.

The hotel is not real close to Fisherman's Wharf, but that is not an issue. There is a bus that is conveniantly located one block from the hotel which passes by every 15 minutes. The desk personnel are very informative, and they answered all my questions and were very helpful. Also you are exactly three blocks from Lombard 'streets crookedest street […] in the world. This is a really good hotel that is fair for the price. It's on Van Ness so you can get around the city pretty easily. We had a great view of the golden gate bridge from the room. Just insist on a top floor when you arrive. The staff is great. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. Not as many amenities as the 4 star hotels but we didn't care. I highly […] recommend this hotel. I recently stayed in this hotel on a trip with three other friends. The room, and the whole hotel in general had a funky odor, as mentioned in other reviews. The free breakfast was lacking. Our room had an excellent view, and plenty of space for four people. The parking garage is a pain to get into late at night as is the front lobby. Pros: Located within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf. Wonderful continental breakfast. Cons: Parking spaces and corners in garage are TIGHT, and there is only enough room for one car to go, yet the one lane is for both ways. Expect to do a lot of stopping and backing up. It is also $26 a night to park there. Oh, and a space is NOT guaranteed. […] The front desk clerk was not very nice or helpful. She told us to catch the bus going "towards the water" in a very annoyed voice when asked for help with the bus. OK, we're tourists...just tell us which way the water is at the very least! It's not like she was super busy! The other issue was that the carpet in the room felt damp. Not sure why, but we just dealt with it as we were just there to get some sleep for one night. A nice enough hotel. Biggest bonus was location. Breakfast was adequate. Hotel staff for the most part was good. Clean rooms.

My stay at the Comfort Inn by the Bay was fine. The room was very clean and the morning person at the front desk was very nice. The restroom was rather small. The only complaint I have is that the room was very cold. I tried to look for a thermostat to turn down the air, but could not find one. If you stay here, bring a blanket or sweats.

The breakfast was great for a free breakfast. The parking (although you pay extra) was convenient and felt secure. The neighborhood was nice although not walking distance to wharf unless you are fit and looking for a good half hour walk (ok for some but not for others). My room had a great view and I was thrilled to wake up to the bay! However the furniture […] in the room as well as the lobby is shabby compared to the photos and the carpet in our room was filthy and turned our feet black. The room was clean except for the carpet and I felt the furniture was soiled too. Linens however were clean and crisp. Overall, it was a little shabby in my opinion, for the price we paid. Location is close to Fisherman's Wharf. Also close to the trendy shops and bars of Polk St. Nice breakfast in the morning. They shut it down promptly at 9:30am. Front desk staff were helpful during the day, but not the most friendly at night.

Room was fine. Got in after a day sight seeing and cranked up the heat as it was chilly. Waited hours for heat only to have to be moved to another room about 1:30am as the heater never did work. Front desk was nice and appologetic but no discount was ever offered

We had a very pleasant stay at the Comfort Inn including a great breakfast. The hotel is within walking distance of Fisherman`s Wharf and crookiest street of the world. Very convieniant.

This is an older hotel in a mixed commercial residential area about 0.6 miles from Fisherman's wharf, and Gharadeli Square. Otherwise, the only thing it is close to is the bus line. And it's a long ride up Mission street to the subway/BART station The room was very small, barely able to hold the bed and the furniture. The view was uninspiring (roof […] and street), with no view of the bay. The street noise was only muffled once I started the room fan in the old heater/air conditioner. The wallpaper was about 15 years old, and there were various water stains near the window - and some areas were peeling off the wall. Ceiling was a popcorn type over cement, so not much there either. Bathroom was clean, but again - dated fixtures. The desk service was minimal, and not very helpful. Both of the people who waited on me seemed to be elderly, and not really "with it" as far as anything nice to say. The "free" breakfast was all the cold food you could toast, and pre-made batter type waffles. Maybe you could call the coffee "passable." I was glad I was only there for one night. We only stayed overnight but found the room clean and comfortable. The only complaint was the breakfast staff started packing away the food without asking if we were finished.

Everything was as expected. However, I was glad that I was in a room at the other end of the hall from the ice machine, which was the noisiest ice machine I've ever heard. Everything else about the room was nice and quiet. I thought that the charge for a refrigerator was rather high. I found the Comfort Inn on Van Ness in San Francisco through hotels.com. I cannot say enough good things about the front-desk staff. One of the days it rained and it was near impossible to get a taxi. After waiting over an hour, two of gentlemen working at the desk took the time to explain to me how to catch the bus to where I needed to go. The directions […] were so clear. first: Location, Location, Location, nice local neborhood. A lot of local resteraunts and bars. Did not get any "chain" resteraunts or tourist traps. Walking distance to a lot of things. stayed in this neborhood for 60% of trip. second:Had a friend come into city for a couple of hours for lunch and the management helped out with parking. we stayed many very good hotels all over the world, but staying here was the best experience, bay view is excellent. golden bridge seem next to us, we viewde morning , evenings , sunrise , sunset, it was beautiful. we came to san fransisco only to view golden bridge, so staying in this hotel was superb. sunil.

Everything about Comfort Inn by the Bay was great. We had a panoramic view of San Francisco Bay. Our bed was extremely comfortable. The room had every amenity we could have wanted, and we were just a few minutes' walk from Fishermen's Wharf. The breakfast was amazing, with delicious make-your-own waffles, fruit, breads and pastries, hard-boiled eggs, […] juices, coffee and tea. The room and bathroom were immaculate and pleasantly furnished. And all this at a reasonable price. Comfort Inn was a good choice that wasn't too expensive but in a good location. The breakfast was nice too, just get there before 9:30am! Easy to walk to Fisherman's Wharf or hop a bus. Good place.
