-Close walk to all parts of SF -GREAT SERVICE... hotel staff gave me a gift since I told the front desk it was my 21st birthday -Bathroom did have some minor imperfections but it didn't bother me -Rooms were very comfortable... great view of the bay!

It should be posted that a night of parking at this hotel is $55.00. I was surprised.

When we first got to the hotel, I had to recheck my reservation email to make sure we'd gone to the right Hilton. This was for two reasons: 1, it's in that grey area of San Francisco where Chinatown is overlapping into the old Financial District; and 2, it looked a lot fancier than I realized. We were staying there during the Lunar New Year Festivities, […] so the hotel had added decorations and Chinese dragons on display. They even ran a parade at least once while we were there. Our experience was very positive on all levels. The hotel and its location, the staff, the room were all top notch. Very comfortable bed, beautiful view, friendly, efficient and courteous service. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and we will definitely go back!

Look like a 3- star Hotel!!! The lobby and the restaurant in the lobby are even less appealing.

If you need to come to San Francisco or work reasons... stay far away from this hotel. Hilton is so concearned with collecting $10 per day, per device ... that they have forgotten to provide quality always on internet access. Sending an email can take 20 minutes... downloading a file can take an hour... if it it works at all! Hilton should be embarrased […] for having this badly run property with its name on it. Very nice hotel located in the China Town, near from the Financial District, parking very expensive

We stayed in this hotel in Jan 2012. We arrived and found it difficult to find, because the gps took us to the side street, which was a one way and you couldn't turn into the front of the hotel. We found out later that the side was the parking entrance. Their was a huge trash dumpster there. What hit us over the top was the daily parking fee. Some where […] around $45 bucks a day. We could have chosen a different hotel for that price with breakfast. Too much construction in the area. Loud noises in the morning made it unpleasant. Small work out room, no pool. Hotel was great, staff was friendly and very helpful. The location is centrally located near Chinatown, North Beach, and Union Square. The Ferry build is only a mile walk from the hotel.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, good cost for convenience. Room was a little small though and not well laid out so I felt really cramped in it. Nice neighborhood and plenty of restaurants nearby or a short cab ride away. I'd stay again if I'm in SF for business.

We stayed one night in this Hilton Hotel a few days before Christmas and loved the location, right next to Chinatown, walking distance to dozens of restaurants and unique shops. It is also easy walking distance to shopping in the financial district and the Ferry Building, and not too far from Union Square either! First trip to San Francisco for my husband, 2 teenage children and myself. We had a good time at the Hilton. Chinatown is just one block away, 10 minutes walk to Montgomery station, Market Street. Room is clean, toiletries and beverages replenish daily. On the whole,excellent, and will definitely return again in the near future.

Close to bus stops, and good restaurants. Is not the safest place in town, but it it is ok. The bathroom does not have a vent so the room becomes very foggy if you take a long shower.

Decent hotel. Fairly clean. Riculously small rooms. Way to loud.

I booked the Hilton just a few hours prior to driving into the city. I had stayed there yrs ago and was just as pleased the second time I stayed. The hotel is located in a great part of the city, near union square, chinatown, the embarcadero. Great spot for "home base" and then walk and public transit it around. However, the one negative (which I concede is not necessarily a fault of the hotel) is that free or even affordable parking in the area is non-existant. I thought I might be able to find a spot within walking distance to the hotel but was unable to. Hotel parking was over 40 dollars a day. The local garages were similar in price and very few would accomodate my car overnight. I ended up finding a small street lot a few blocks away that charged me 30 dollars to leave my car overnight. That, for me, was a lot to pay simply to park. Most of the hotels in that part of town had similar parking situations. Great hotel but add at least 40 dollars a day to accomodate your car. Here are what I consider the Pros & Cons of this hotel: PROS: Great location (minutes walk from Union square and North Beach is right up the street), booked early so I got a great price. Fantastic view of Coit Tower (but the windows were filthy dirty). CONS: Took forever for the water to be hot, room was clean upon arrival but missing some towels […] and face cloth for the bathroom, the elevators suck (waited 20 min in a long line on NYE to finally go up to my room). cost of parking (a con for practically every hotel...as guests, the price to park should be discounted). We stayed a few days after Christmas this year. The hotel was fabulous and the views amazing. The windows could have been cleaner to enjoy the views but that was the only complaint we had. Thank you.

Stayed at this Hilton hotel in downtown SF from 12-28 to 12-30-11. Everything you read about from the previous reviews are true - the loud construction noises, ear-plugs in the room, thin walls where you can eavesdrop on your neighbors and the very slow elevators that take forever to show up. When we checked in upon arrival, it felt like the lady at […] the front desk could not care less. She was professional alright, but you could tell that she couldn't care to service you by the way she was answering my typical tourissy questions. On our 2nd day of stay, our room was not cleaned until past 2pm, and the bathroom amenities were not refilled (not that i was taking them home). I'm very disappointed with my experience. If you're looking for a great hotel that is walking distance from San Francisco's Chinatown, I would highly recommend this hotel. The remodeled rooms are clean and comfortable with decent views for the rate. Aside from the hit-or-miss customer service at the front desk (person who checked us in was wonderful, but person who checked us out was okay at […] best), and the drilling outside that starts too early in the morning (before 8am), our 2-night stay with our dogs was pleasant. Hilton exceeded expectations in terms of comfort and service. Great value for the price. Friendly, courteous staff.

I found the hotel to be satisfactory. When I pulled in the valet and baggage service was extremely on top of the ball. I wish i could say the same for the front desk staff, even though the check in was quick and painless the staff seemed as if they had just woke from a nap and didn't want to be bothered. I asked a few general questions and I felt like […] i was being a bother. And the hotel didn't have a general store or kiosk and there is nothing close by. Great view of Coit tower from the 16th floor north side!

I like it very much, first because this hotel is very clean and thus comfortable, as other Hiltons. Second, it's located very close to Chinatown and I could always eat Chinese food!!! The hotel is grand and nice. It provides free wifi in room and free computer use in the lobby. The service of its staff is also very good. Fantastic location with good bay view! Daily room cleaning and good maintenance of overall hotel condition. a must stay hotel in San Francisco down town.. I will definitely come back. In fact I will be back on 29 Dec before flying back to Singapore.. :-) The only short fall is there is no microwave in the room.

Great value - got upgraded to executive floor with bay view and discounted self-parking, walking distance to Coit Tower, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square. China Town is right there with great food choices. Staff are all very friendly. I enjoyed my stay tremendously and will be back.

I was very surprised by the facilities. Years ago I stayed here prior to Hilton taking the property and I was not pleased. However, I will staying here in the future when business brings me to San Francisco again. The staff was more than I could imagine for their professionalism. Thanks for making the trip very comfortable.

Even though the building is rather dated on the exterior, and is probably still best remembered as the "Chinatown Holiday Inn" (former occupant), the interior has been thoroughly rennovated and is under new management (Hilton), with superbly trained staff who are all friendly and helpful. Ask for the "Bay View" and you will be rewarded with a view of […] the Coit Tower whose lighting changes with the season, time of the day. On a high enough floor with the unrestricted view, Alcatraz Island floats tentalizingly seemingly nearby to Coit Tower. It may well be worth the upgrade cost (or stay frequently enough with the Hilton family chain) to get onto the Executive floor, as the free breakfast, Happy Hour and higher floor view are well worth the extra charges. Valet parking at $55/day hurts, but with a little planning, parking the car across the way at the public Portsmouth Square Parking lot will save you half that cost. The hotel is within easy walking distance to Chinatown, North Beach just up three blocks and a diagonal turn up Columbus, and Union Square is easily within walking reach via the Financial District. In fact it is in a perfect location for walking towards and along the Embarcadero (flat) or for the strong of heart up some of the Hills of SF, all within the shadowns oif the TransAmerica pyramid.
